Walt Disney World 2017

Todo comenzó con la idea de ir al lugar más mágico de la tierra, Disney (cualquiera de los parques), después me llegó una convocatoria por parte de la escuela para ser parte del elenco de Disney (si, para ir a trabajar), decidí aplicar pues no perdía nada haciendo un esfuerzo por ir a uno de mis lugares favoritos (aunque fuera a trabajar).

A los dos meses de mi aplicación me llegó un correo diciendo que había sido seleccionada para la entrevista face-to-face en la CD.MX., mi mamá fue la que me ayudó a elegir el outfit que usaría y fue ella quien me llevó a las oficinas de Disney en México.

A pesar del mal inglés que tuve y lo roja que me puse en la entrevista, dos meses después me enviaron otro correo que decía "¡Felicidades! Has sido seleccionada para ser parte del elenco Disney", tenía mi fecha de llegada a los departamentos y lo que tenía que llevar; al momento de leerlo le dije a mi mamá y a mi papá, y los dos estaban muy felices; entre la venta de cupcakes y tartaletas que hacía con mi mamá, unos ahorros que tenía y el apoyo de mi familia logré irme a Disney.

Llegado el 16 de mayo del 2017 agarré mis maletas y me subí al avión junto con otros 10 chicos mexicanos que iban a la misma aventura que yo... y al fin llegamos, Orlando, Florida, "hogar, dulce hogar", Walt Disney World estaba a sólo unas horas de mí. Al fin llegamos a los departamentos, y entre tanta cosa que llevaba (dos grandes maletas con sábanas, ropa, zapatos, almohadas, etc.) la alegría desbordaba por los cierres de mis maletas y mi sonrisa.

Elegí Commons para vivir porque dentro del departamento había lavadora y secadora, y por suerte me tocó ahí, compartía departamento con otras 4 chicas, todas mexicanas, así que no hubo problemas de lenguaje, y algo que agradezco infinitamente es la gran amistad que forjamos en esos casi 3 meses de vivir juntas, de pelear por la comida, el espacio y los horarios, pero sin duda, han sido los mejores 3 meses que he vivido...

Tuve 3 días de capacitación en los cuales me enseñaron las reglas generales y cómo hacer el trabajo que me asignaron. Me tocó ser chef, estar en la cocina haciendo pizzas, papas a la francesa, nuggets, hamburguesas de pollo (deliciosas por cierto), ensaladas, entre muchas otras tareas dentro de la cocina.

No es lo que yo quería hacer, en realidad lo que yo quería era ser princesa, pero por razones externas a mí no se pudo; sin embargo, disfruté tanto (sí, aunque estuviera en la cocina), aproveché cada segundo, conocí gente increíble, y la pasé de maravilla (sobre todo al cerrar porque poníamos música para hacer más amena la noche ya que bailábamos mientras limpiábamos).

Lo mejor de trabajar en Disney son las prestaciones... ENTRADAS GRATIS A CUALQUIERA DE SUS PARQUES.

Así es, siempre que uno quiere (y tiene tiempo) puede ir al parque Disney que desee (EPCOT, Animal Kingdom, Magic Kingdom, Hollywood Studios, Blizzard Beach, Typhoon Lagoon, ESPN e incluso a Disney Springs -centro comercial- ). Esto es lo que uno más quiere al terminar su turno, poder pasear y disfrutar de las atracciones, y qué mejor que hacerlo con tus amigos y colegas de trabajo.

En el tiempo que estuve trabajando en Disney conocí gente maravillosa, tuve días duros, tampoco diré que todo es genial, pero sí el 98% de lo que haces lo disfrutas, y con cada día que pasa, aprendes cosas nuevas y que puedes aplicar en tu día a día, le pones amor a las cosas y haces feliz a mucha gente, incluso haces momentos mágicos.

Si por mí fuera el verano del 2018 lo habría vivido ahí, en mi segundo hogar, y seguro que el verano del 2019 habría sido lo mismo, seguir haciendo feliz a la gente mientras estás en casa...

Everything started with the idea of going to the most magical place on the earth, Disney, after my mind was blown about thousands of Disney ideas I received an e-mail from school for having a Disney experience & I chose the wisest decision ever... applying for being a Walt Disney Cast Member.

Two months after I apply I received another e-mail saying I was being expected for my face-to-face interview three weeks later in the WDW offices in Mexico City. My mom helped me out by choosing my outfit and taking me to the interview.

Even though I had a very bad english at the time of questions and answers, and the reddish my face was when I spoke, two months later I received another e-mail saying "Congratulations! You have been chosen for being a Cast Member at WDW", there was also everything I needed to do before leaving, the day I had to arrive and the day of my departure; in the moment I read it I told my mom & dad, both were pretty happy about it, my mom is a cook (sometimes), so she helped me cooking tartlets & cupcakes so I could sell them & earn some money to pay for the plane tickets & the rest of the things you have to pay when you´re going to WDW (not much, but not a little), also I had some money saved & my family helped me making my dream come true.

Finally may 16, 2017, I took my stuff & boarded the plane that would take me to WDW with 10 Mexicans more with the same dream I had... & finally we were there, Orlando, Florida, "home sweet home", & home, WDW was only a few hours away from me. At last we arrive to the apartments, in between everything I was carrying (2 big suitcases with clothes, shoes, bed stuff, etc.) the happiness overflowed by the closures of my suitcases & my smile.

I chose "Commons" as my house for 3 months, only cause they had laundry in each apartment & it was better than having to walk who knows how much, because you never know how far your apartment will be from the entrance & the laundry. I shared apartment with 4 Mexican girls, so there was no other problem than fighting for food, space or schedules, & I´m grateful for the friendship we made during those 3 months living together...

I had 3 training days in which I was taught the general rules & how to do every task, as I was in kitchen I had the chance to try every meal they had, so I could recommend what was better for me. I was a cook, I had to cook pizza, salads, french fries, nuggets, pasta, among other errands in the kitchen.

It was not what I expected of a job at WDW, it was not bad, but I did not wanted to cook, but as time passed I enjoyed it more and more, even when I had to clean & close kitchen; I leaned about every moment I spent at WDW, from when I was working, to when I was enjoying the parks or buying souvenirs... I had a blast of a time.

The best of working at WDW are the benefits... FREE ENTRANCE TO ANY OF THE PARKS!

Yeah! That´s what any child and adult would want for a Christmas present, going to the WDW parks anytime you want (only if you´re not working, obviously), you can enjoy of Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, Animal Kingdom, Hollywood Studios, Blizzard Beach, Typhoon Lagoon, ESPN & Disney Springs -Disney´s Mall-). This is what every cast member wants to do when the working time is over, or in the days off, enjoying the attractions, & the best part is when you enjoy them with friends & work mates.

The time I spent working at Disney I met amazing people, I had some tough days, not everything is cool, but the 98% of what you do, it really is great, everyday I was there I tried to learn new things so I can apply them when I return to my first home, when you work at Disney, you do everything with love, and you get to make people happy, you make magical moments for someone you don´t know, & that´s one of the parts I really love to do, I love to make people happy.

If for me, I would have spent the summer of 2018 at WDW, my second home, and for sure, summer of 2019 would have been the same, living my dream once & again, keep making people happy while you´re home...
