Certámenes de Belleza (Beauty Pageants)

Siempre quise ser modelo, ése era mi sueño más grande desde los 14 años, pero seguramente se preguntarán "bueno, y esto ¿qué tiene que ver con los certámenes de belleza?

Pues resulta ser que justo a los 15 años, una de las primas de mi mamá tuvo una hija llamada Zoé, a la cual le hicieron la fiesta de bautizo con la familia y los mejores amigos. Uno de los mejores amigos era Jorge Maceda, director de, en ese entonces, Nuestra Belleza Puebla, hoy Mexicana Universal.

Jorge me comentó que estaba muy bonita, aunque en ese entonces yo no era mi fan #1, no me sentía segura de mí misma y no era muy feliz con todo mi físico; me comentó también que le gustaría que en algún futuro yo participara en el certamen, cosa que a mi mamá no le encantó porque nunca ha sido muy fan de los #CertamenesdeBelleza

Total, años más tarde, Jorge me vuelve a contactar para participar en 2015, en ese entonces yo había entrado recientemente a la universidad, era verano y dije "¿por qué no?".

Sí, así como me ven (como mala de novela), ésa era yo a los 19 años, participando en un certamen para conseguir una corona y sobresalir de entre varias miles de poblanas.

La concentración fue únicamente de 2 meses (aproximadamente), 8 semanas intensivas en las que debíamos ir al gym, clases de imagen, historia, cultura, entre otras cosas que se nos daban para mejorar oratoria, pasarela, etc.

Una de las cosas que siempre he disfrutado es el modelaje de fotografía y, en este certamen habían algunas áreas de oportunidad para crecer y ser la mejor opción, una de éstas era la dieta, ya que siempre me ha costado mucho trabajo seguir una dieta, no porque no coma saludable, sino porque no soy fan de la cocina; sin embargo, al final se tuvieron buenos resultados.

Una de las cosas más bonitas que me llevo de este certamen es una gran amistad que hice, es una niña a la que llevaré en el corazón toda la vida, Fer, Honesta, sin pelos en la lengua, muy amable, paciente y carismática, una amiga en la cual sé que puedo confiar sin duda alguna.

Al final no fui yo la que obtuvo la corona, pero gané más de lo que había pensado, además de una amiga de por vida, una gran experiencia que jamás olvidaré y grandes aprendizajes que necesitaba.

De este certamen aprendí que siempre se gana, aunque no como uno quisiera, pero lo más importante es que siempre viene algo mucho mejor para tí. Sé que si ese año yo hubiera ganado el estatal, en el nacional hubiera tenido un resultado muy malo, pero la vida me tenía preparado algo mejor, algo mucho mejor que eso...

I've always wanted to be a model, that was my biggest dream since I was 14 years old, but You may be thinking "okay, so what does this has to do with beauty pageants?

Well, turns out that when I was 15, one of my mom's cousins had a baby girl named Zoe to whom they organized the mexican religious welcoming party with family and friends. One of those friends was Jorge Maceda, the director of the state pageant (Nuestra Belleza Puebla, now Mexicana Universal Puebla - Miss México Puebla).

He told me that I was very pretty, that I should participate in the pageant for there was a big chance for me to win, even though, in that moment I didn't think of me as a very pretty girl, I was insecure and didn't really like myself. Besides, my mother has never been into beauty pageants, so I didn't pay a lot of attention about it.

Years later, Jorge contacted me to be a participant in 2015, I had just started my studies in the University, it was summer and I didn't apply for any course at that time, so I said "why not" and started my application for the pageant.

The girl in the first picture is me at 19, I was participating in a beauty pageant to win the crown, represent my beautiful state and all of the women in it. The pageant lasted two months (aprox.), eight intense weeks in which we were supposed to go to the gym, had history and culture among other lessons that would help us in both, the state and national pageant.

One of the things that I have always enjoyed is modeling for a camera, is being a photograph model and, in this pageant there where some opportunity areas to grow and be the best option for the jury, one of these areas for me was the food, it has always been difficult for me to follow a diet, it's not that I don't eat healthy, but I'm not such a fan of cooking, even though, in the end I had good results.

One of the most beautiful things that I take from this pageant is the great friendship that I made with some of he girls, Fer and Negie, both of them are sincere, honest and great friends, patient and humble, kind and great listeners, there is no doubt that I can trust them with anything.

In the end I didn't win the crown, but I won more than I thought I would, besides two great friends for life, a great experience that I will never forget, great lessons that I needed and personal growth.

From this pageant I learned that we always win, even though some times it's not how we wanted it to be, but the important thing is that there is always coming something bigger and better for each one of us.

Now I know that if I'd won that year, I would have had bad results in the national pageant, but life had something better prepared for me, something way better than that...
